DISCHARGE SUMMARIES: FACELIFT or BROWLIFT SURGERY

POSTOPERATIVE INSTRUCTIONS FOLLOWING FACELIFT OR BROWLIFT (ABBREVIATED)


Bacitracin to all incisions except eyes twice daily for 2 weeks

Erythromycin ointment to eye incisions twice daily for 2 weeks

Do not wash hair until 3 days following surgery. Then you may wash your hair daily after 3 days.

Ice to eyes for swelling and bruising 20 minutes on, 20 minuets off for 1st 24 hours, then as needed for patient comfort.

Head elevated for sleep for first week to prevent increased swelling, then okay to sleep flat if swelling is not present or a problem.

All incisions are dissolvable. No need for suture removal

You may need some assistance for first 24-48 hours after surgery with ambulation as the swelling may cause difficulty with vision

No heavy lifting (no more than 10 lbs) for 2 weeks. You may drive after 24 hours if the swelling is not obstructing your vision and

you are no longer taking narcotic pain medication.

After 2 weeks you may gradually increase you activity as tolerated.
