POSTOPERATIVE INSTRUCTIONS:
- Avoid strenuous activity for a minimum of 14 days after surgery.
- No heavy lifting; nothing over 8 lbs (1 gallon of milk) should be lifted.
- Avoid all aspirin containing products for a minimum of 2 weeks following surgery as this will increase your chance of bleeding. Use the prescribed oral pain medication if needed for pain.
- You should not drive if you have taken any oral narcotic pain medicine the same day. Make sure to use your stool softener as prescribed to avoid constipation while taking oral narcotic medications.
- You should not drive if you have any stiffness or pain in your neck or head that may limit your ability to turn your head completely from side to side.
- If you have been prescribed antibiotics, you should use the entire prescription to lower your chance of infection or bleeding.
- Monitor for signs of infection including fever (>101 for 24 hours), chills, increasing redness or warmth around wound, drainage or foul smell. If you notice any of these symptoms, please report them to our service without delay.
