DISCHARGE SUMMARIES: HOSPITAL COURSE

On XX/XX/XXXX the patient was taken to the operating room and underwent XXXX.  Following an uneventful operative course and a brief stay in the post anesthesia care unit, the patient was transferred to the (general hospital floor or surgical intensive care unit or general pediatric hospital floor or pediatric intensive care unit).  Early mobilization after surgery was tolerated well. The postoperative course was uncomplicated.  Surgical drains were removed after output had decreased to an acceptable level.  Postoperatively there were no signs or symptoms of hematoma or respiratory distress.  When the patient was tolerating a regular diet, the pain was well controlled on oral medications, bowel and bladder function and ambulatory status had returned to its prior state the patient was discharged from the hospital.
