PICC LINE: You are being discharged with a PICC (percutaneously inserted central catheter) line for long-term administration of IV antibiotics. Outpatient antibiotic therapy has been arranged. The PICC must be maintained with heparin and or saline flushes and site care per agency protocol. The PICC may be removed after all IV antibiotics have been discontinued. While taking IV antibiotics, it is important for you to have several blood parameters monitored weekly by a physician. These include CBC, creatinine, and ALT. Your designated primary care physician has been contacted and agrees to monitor these levels.
