POSTOPERATIVE HOME INSTRUCTIONS FOLLOWING SEPTOPLASTY (ABBREVIATED)
Nasal drip pad to nose as needed for nasal drainage
NeilMed 8 oz sinus rinse bottle, One bottle in each nostril 4 times per day for 4 weeks
Bacitracin ointment to inner nostril 2 times per day for 5 days
No heavy lifting or strenuous activity for one week
No nose blowing for 1 week then start blowing nose actively to get crusts out; no pulling or pushing on nose
You may drive once off narcotic medications for 24 hours
Elevate head of bed for 1 week to reduce swelling
Ambulate as much as possible as lying in bed may worsen swelling
You may shower
