Pop Your Ears

Question:  A 68 year old woman is undergoing hyperbaric oxygen therapy for osteoradionecrosis of the mandible.  She complains of ongoing ear pain with treatments requiring frequent pauses during treatment.  On examination after a treatment you find a small hemorrhage within the tympanic membrane without middle ear effusion.  What grade of barotrauma is this and how can you prevent further complications?  [Answer will be posted with next week's new question]
